Emma's fundraiser for The Polycystic Kidney Disease Charity

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
This year I will be taking part in three half marathons within 6 weeks. Starting off with Brighton 02.03, Hastings 23.03 and finishing off with London Landmarks 06.04. So thought I'd raise awareness and do a little fund raising for PKD along the way.
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common inherited kidney disease affecting over 12 million people worldwide and up to 70,000 in the UK. It's estimated that between 1 in every 400 to 2,500 people has the disease. It can affect women and men equally, across all ethnic groups.
This is a condition that I live with myself and my aim is to keep my kidneys going for as long as possible before needing dialysis. My Grandad and Dad also had PKD.
At the moment I am able to manage this daily with a balance diet (low salt), hydration, exercise, medication and regular check ups at the kidney unit in Brighton.
Any support will be appreciated as I take on this next challenge ❤️
