On 19th April 2026 I will be running the Manchester marathon for City of Sanctuary. This charity has played a big role in the work and life of my family, and is close to my heart. At this time of division in the UK, I want to take this opportunity to show solidarity with displaced people, and I hope other donors can join me in this.

Wherever we come from, we all have a right to feel safe. That’s why city by city, community by community, we are building a more welcoming UK for people forced to flee their homes.

Our networks are made up of thousands of ordinary people all around the country who are stepping up to support people seeking sanctuary in our communities. We work with individuals, groups and organisations in every area and in every sector to encourage inclusivity, solidarity and compassion for people from a forced displacement background.
