Story
Free Emma from “Jail” — and keep Hertford’s stories alive!

On Friday 24 October 2025 I’ll be “locked up” in the dungeons at Hertford Castle… and the only way out is to raise my bail for Hertford Museum! Every pound you donate gets me one step closer to freedom — and directly supports a much-loved local charity.
Why your donation matters
Hertford Museum is an independent charitable museum that has kept admission free since 1903, welcoming schools, families and visitors to explore more than 100,000 objects that tell the stories of Hertford and 30 surrounding villages. It’s home to the Addis toothbrush archive, the Hertfordshire Regiment collection, and countless artefacts that connect us to our town’s past — all cared for in a beautiful 17th-century townhouse with a Jacobean knot garden. Your gift helps keep the doors open, the lights on, and the learning programmes running.
What your support does
• Protects and conserves unique collections for future generations
• Funds hands-on education for local schools and families
• Sustains a free-to-enter community museum at the heart of Hertford
• Powers exhibitions and events that bring our history to life
Make it fun — bail me out!
“Jailbreak from Hertford Castle” is a playful fundraiser with a serious purpose. I can’t escape without your help — so please chip in, share this page, and watch my “bail” total climb. Together we’ll free me from “jail” and keep our brilliant museum thriving. Thank you!
Hertford Museum is a registered charity. Donations via JustGiving are secure and go straight to the museum.
