Story
I’ve secured a place in The Backyard Ultra and I’ll be using it as a chance to push myself further than I ever have before. I already run and train regularly, but this will be my biggest endurance challenge to date and I’m doing it for a cause that is really important to me.
I’m raising money for The Woodpecker Trust, a charity working to have a mental health first aider in every gym and fitness community across the UK, using fitness challenges to start conversations and save lives through suicide prevention.
Ten years ago, I was seriously unwell with anorexia. I’m now recovered, but mental health is something that’s always there in the background. Exercise and, more importantly, the community around it. The gym, and the people I run and train with have been hugely important to my wellbeing.
I want to use this challenge to help show that mental health doesn’t have a “look” and that being open about it really matters.
I’ll be aiming to run further than I ever have before, and every mile will count towards supporting The Woodpecker Trust’s work. If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, I’d be really grateful. Thank you for being part of this journey. 🧡
