The Rainbow Run 2025 · 8 June 2025

The Hospice Trust relies entirely on fundraising and donations to support specialist palliative care services. The hospice has a 12-bedded in-patient unit and 60 day hospice places weekly. Please help us to maintain these vital services to improve quality of life for our patients and their families.

Story

Hi! I'm Emma, a Miss Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire GB finalist, and I am raising funds & awareness for John Eastwood Hospice.

To help me achieve my fundraising goals, I will be taking part in this years Rainbow Run at Sherwood Pines. This is a 6 hour running event hosted by Rasselbock Running, where runners do as many 5.79km loops as they can within the time limit. The furthest I have ran is 10km and have not taken part in anything like this before - I am excited for the challenge and to have the oppurtunity to raise awareness for John Eastwood Hospice.

John Eastwood Hospice's mission:

"We are committed to caring for a patient’s needs, thereby enabling them to live in comfort, with the dignity and the degree of independence and control of life that is appropriate.

A hospice is more than just a building. It is a philosophy of care that seeks to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support, not only for the patient requiring palliative care, but also for family and friends.

We further believe that each patient has a right to be informed of their diagnosis if they so wish, to allow them to make realistic decisions about their future, thus leaving them as free as possible to attain mental and spiritual peace."

John Eastwood Hospice's values:

"To put patients’ needs first and focus on the person, not the illness.

To care for, and support those important to the patient.

To deliver the most effective specialist and inclusive palliative care that we can.

To be a learning organisation and to learn with others who are providing generic palliative care.

To respect and value the contribution of all hospice staff and volunteers.

To use creativity and innovation to continually improve our care.

To serve the local community of Mansfield and Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood in the best ways we can in the provision of palliative care.

To behave ethically.

To collaborate with partners and other organisations to benefit patients and those important to them

To value the dignity and lives of all"
