Emma's fundraiser for Friends of Africa

Emma McCloskey is raising money for Friends of Africa

GSP South Africa 2025

Friends of Africa’s mission is to work with young people in Ireland and our partner countries in Africa, providing personal and social development opportunities. Thinking globally and acting locally will underpin our work in creating a more just and equal world.

Story

Hi everyone,

In June I will be travelling to South Africa with a small group of volunteers with Friends of Africa as part of their Global Solidarity Project🌍👣.

For four weeks our team will be working on social and personal development projects for young people in the North West Province of South Africa🇿🇦.

Partnering with the Tsholofelo Community to run residential camps for young people living in informal settlements (squatter camps), which are continuing to grow as people move to the area for work in platinum mines.

At the camps we will deliver workshops focusing on relationships, gender equality, and team-building, along with English tutorials and sports activities. (You can read more about the challenges young people face in these settlements and why the camps are so important here.)

Over the next few months, I will be organising fundraising events. All money raised will go directly towards FOA projects. Any contribution will make a difference and be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support,

Emma McCloskey🤍
