Story

***I know it says 2025 on the event page - I am running this event in 2027***

What better way to celebrate turning 40 than running the entire length of the country...

In 2023 I had just run my first 50 mile race and I was excitedly talking to a dear friend Sara Richards about my ridiculous plans and future running dreams. I had just heard about Run Britannia. Sara was excited about my bonkers idea. A five week, epic journey on foot from Lands End to John O' Groats. Over 1000 miles.

It seemed way beyond what I could ever manage. Then again I had gone from no miles to considering marathons training runs in the space of less than two years.

That conversation with Sara was the last one we ever had. Sara was unwell with cancer and in hospital at the time. She never left. I miss my friend.

So I am determined to make this ridiculous plan a reality. In memory of Sara and for the almost all of us who will have to deal with cancer at some point in our lives. And to celebrate what running is to me. Choosing to suffer, choosing to work hard on something is a privilege

This will not be easy. It is being referred to as a torture holiday in our house.

Can I do it? Im excited to find out.

I will be trying my best to document my training over the next 18 months or so.
