Story
This summer, we’re taking part in the Kids Summer of Walking to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital – a place that has played a vital role in our daughter Emma’s life.
Emma was born with a rare and complex congenital heart condition, including CCTGA (Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries), situs inversus, mesocardia, and azygos continuation of the IVC. These conditions affect how her heart is structured and how it works, meaning she needs extra care, regular monitoring, and ongoing support.
Emma has twice-yearly hospital visits for specialist cardiac check-ups and wears a 24-hour ECG monitor over two days to track her heart’s rhythm and function. Thanks to the expert care at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, we feel reassured and supported every step of the way.
We’re walking for Emma – and for all the children who rely on the life-changing care this hospital provides. Every step we take helps raise money to support the amazing staff, equipment, and services that families like ours depend on.
If you’re able to donate, we’d be truly grateful. Thank you for supporting our journey. 💙
