Story
My Dad was diagnosed with Bowel cancer in September 2023. Since then, he has continued to undergo many tests, scans, hospital stays and treatment including chemotherapy. Whilst attending one of his rounds of chemotherapy, he received a care package with lots of thoughtful items in. It made a challenging time that bit easier. Here is a little information on the wonderful charity that provides these:
Touch of Sparkle (reg. 1210909) was established in 2015 and donates cancer care packs to patients at the Addenbrooke’s, Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough Hospitals. This is our 10th anniversary year. In that time, we have donated over 7,500 cancer care packs and 12,000 reward toys for children.
The care packs contain a mix of practical items, distractions and treats with the idea being to bring comfort and kindness to patients facing treatment or surgery for cancer. The packs include items such as herbal teas (for nausea), bed socks, puzzle books, earplugs, notebooks, lip balms, playing cards, mini toiletries for hospital stays, sweets and chocolates, mints, biscuits/flapjacks, pocket tissues etc. Essentially – we aim to spread a ‘touch of sparkle’ to patients and lighten their load at a difficult time.
This did just that for my Dad and many others, which is why I am raising money for this wonderful charity. My team at work and I are doing a 10k wall to raise money, so any donations would be welcome to support such a great charity that has directly impacted my Dad in a positive way. Thank you 😊
