Growing up, I always felt different from the people around me, and I didn't really have anyone I could talk to about it. In my late teens and even up to when I was 20, my mental health hit some incredibly low points. It took therapy, exercise, support from the people around me, and a lot of hard work to get to where I am today. I'm also going through my own autism assessment at the moment, and looking back, I can see how much it would have meant if I could have talked to someone who understood what I was going through. EDA supporting young autistic people means that partnering with them means that others don't have to go through the incredibly hard times I went through. Running has been such a big part of my recovery, so running for EDA feels like the right way to give back. Every donation helps a young person feel a little less alone.
