Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page! If you have any spare pennies or have time to share my page - I will greatly appreciate any support! :)
The past couple of years has been a journey of experiences, emotions, and lessons. Both positive and negative. However, through these challenges, there was a time when I felt like I hit a force field (this is how I use to describe it!). I always knew how to get myself on track, or how to make myself happy... sometimes I just couldn't reach to pull myself through the wall.
About 2 years ago, I was referred to Jasmine House. Jasmine House, Leicester Rape Crisis is a charity based in Leicester that works with female survivors of sexual abuse, violence, and rape. They offer a range of free and confidential services from counselling to different types of support, and group sessions.
Whilst on the waiting list for counselling, I had support phone calls every month, with the opportunity to join in with group sessions. About 3 months ago, I said goodbye to Jasmine House after having my last counselling session and I am honestly forever grateful.
Every evening when I was welcomed, a cup of tea was made (they remembered how I had it from the first session), a safe environment was provided, a smile was given and there was always a little quote in their box (and for those that know me, you know how much I love quotes <3).
Part of the support provided by Jasmine House was looking at different coping mechanisms. Throughout my journey, I have had a variety of strategies, however, one that has always stuck with me is running.
My 2023 goal was to run a half marathon however after being ill and struggling with my health I wasn't sure if I would be able to complete it. After slowly recovering and getting back on track with my health, I have decided that I will be reaching my 2023 goal.
So I will be running the Dorney Lake (Eton and Windsor) Half Marathon on Sunday 27th August 2023 for myself and fundraising for Jasmine House as a thank you for helping me to heal. <3
