ARU EmSoc Chelmsford Half Marathon Fundraiser for Medecins Sans Frontieres

ARU Emergency Medicine Society is raising money for Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders (MSF)

Chelmsford Half Marathon 2026 · 1 March 2026

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

We’re a team of medical students from the Emergency Medicine Society at Anglia Ruskin University, taking on the Chelmsford Half Marathon on 1st March 2026 to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / Doctors Without Borders.

For many of us, this will be our first ever half marathon - 13.1 miles around Chelmsford city centre and finishing on our very own ARU campus. It’s going to hurt… but not nearly as much as the realities faced by the patients MSF treat every day.

MSF is the world’s leading medical humanitarian organisation, providing medical care to people affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and people who would otherwise have little or no access to healthcare. They work in over 70 countries, going where others cannot or choose not to go — delivering impartial, life-saving care without discrimination.

Your donations makes a real, tangible difference:

💉 £11.45 can treat five malaria patients

🥣 £24 can provide therapeutic food for malnourished children

👩‍⚕️ £76 can send a doctor to the field for a day

As future doctors, we are inspired by MSF’s courage, ethics, and commitment to medicine worldwide. By running this race, we’re standing in solidarity with their mission.

If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to us and to the people MSF supports.

And if you can’t donate, please cheer us on in your hearts (and maybe from the side-lines if you’re local!).

Thank you 💙
