“To defend a country, you need an army. But to defend an identity, you need a school….” Rabbi Jonathan Sacks
My name is Emunah Nasinza; I’m from the Abayudaya Jewish Community in Uganda. My Bat Mitzvah is on May 28th at Congregation Rodeph Sholom in New York.
I have had the opportunity to go to school in three different places: Uganda, Israel, and the USA. Schools are a place where kids learn, make friends, develop their skills and play with each other. For Hadassah, the primary school in Mbale, Uganda, the kids also get an opportunity to have breakfast and lunch at school; some students board at school, so they don’t have to walk long distances and they can use electricity to study at night, thanks to Kulanu. inc.
For my Bat Mitzvah, I’m raising money for the ongoing Aaron Kintu Moses Memorial Fund. This fund is in memory of Aaron Kintu Moses, Hadassah’s founding director who loved and knew every child at Hadassah by name.
Unfortunately in my community, some families can't afford to send their kids to school. Your contribution will help with school fees, books, uniforms, and shoes so that the kids who cannot afford them can attend school.
