Em’s Half Marathon for Marie Curie

Great North Run 2025 · 7 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I know.. I have barely gotten over last years GNR and I did say I don’t think I could do it again… ever.
However… my lovely Mum was meant to come and stay with me and watch me finish the GNR in 2024, which was in memory of her parents, my beautiful Nana and Grandad (the G-unit). But unfortunately, she was in hospital undergoing tests for various symptoms, so we had to cancel our weekend in the north.
Not long after I completed the GNR, My Mum was diagnosed with an aggressive and sadly terminal cancer in 2024. She has been receiving care from the Marie Curie team at home. They have been there whenever needed, and the care they have provided to my mum is always so diligent and compassionate. They’ve also been incredibly supportive for my family at such a horrendous time. They really are doing gods work!
Marie Curie are here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, they are with you to the end; whether at home, in hospices and over the phone. And they push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
So please help me to raise money by donating whatever you can to this incredible charity organisation. They need us to keep providing compassionate end of life care that every person and family deserves.
I’ll be running this GNR with a mix of emotions and a heavy heart because of the personal experience since my last one, but that’s all the more reason to keep me going and help push me past that finish line for an incredible cause.
This is for you Mother Bear ❤️
