Story
So, I'm raising money for Future Frontiers, an education charity that supports disadvantaged young people to discover their career aspirations and realise their potential on their journey towards secure, fulfilling employment and attempting to run my first ever half marathon! 🫣 How have I managed +12y in the third sector and haven’t done any of the fundraising myself?! Well, it’s time!
Future Frontiers delivers a two-year programme of personalised career coaching and guidance to support disadvantaged young people to discover their career aspirations and take positive next steps into further education or training at age 16.
We have run the programme at Macmillan Cancer Support 💚 HQ for 2 years in a row now and I know that everyone who took part, had the best time coaching young people and got so much from the experience itself. It is absolutely amazing what giving back and supporting others does to your own wellbeing and how much purpose it brings to your day to day. It is important to us as charitable organisation to reach out to our local communities and support new generations of talent.

I feel incredibly privileged to be able to be part of it now, being in a position where I am happy and fulfilled in my own professional life. The path to it wasn’t linear just like everyone’s. I most definitely could have done with conversations and coaching about my future education choices when I was 15. Not having them in your own immediate family circles, presents with many unnecessary barriers. You simply do not know how or have no examples or understanding of where to begin, you also have no idea of what you can aim for. And with no one to ask…
Every child deserves positive roles models, supportive environment, to be able to live up to their aspirations, nurture their skills and talents. Every child deserves to exit the endless circles of generational poverty. Mostly I believe everyone needs to feel seen and listened to, and Future Frontiers provides just that, the rare opportunity for the kids to have 1x1 coaching and support when choosing their future path, who otherwise wouldn’t get any help. I’ll be running for them.
