Story
Telling stories is important. The experiences our ancestors went through can live on through us if we continue to tell them. We can continue to take wisdom from their experiences and their lives if we continue to tell them, for the greater human family, not just their direct descendants. Their lives can inspire and bring about change after they are no longer able to tell their stories themselves.
Next Sunday 3rd September I will be running in the London Interfaith Fun Run with people from across different religious and multi-faith charities. I am raising money for Generation 2 Generation, an organization that is helping me put together a presentation on my grandmother and her family's experiences in the Holocaust so that I can deliver it in schools over the coming years.
Generation 2 Generation make sure these stories continue to be told even once the survivors themselves are no longer with us. This is important to me as I believe by retelling the stories of our ancestors we can encourage understanding and hopefully bring about more peace. We can also make sure the suffering of those who came before us isn't in vain and can continue to inspire connection and empathy.
