I am thrilled to be participating in the Brentwood Half Marathon again this year, after missing last year’s event.

As in 2024, I am fundraising for I GOT SHOES, LTD, an organisation that provides shoes, shool uniforms and school fees to those in need. Every step I take will be raising awareness and funds for this amazing course.

But, I can’t do it alone. I need your support to reach my fundraising goal of £500. Your donation will go directly to those in greatest need. Together we can make a significant impact and bring comfort and hope.

I GOT SHOES is a local Brentwood charity who saw firsthand the needs of children in Uganda. They started with shoes, but found that school fees and uniforms were out of reach for many families in areas of extreme poverty. In Uganda, 85% of students never reach senior school - not because they lack ability, but through lack of opportunity.

To date 954 children have been supported through this work. What started with shoes has grown into something far greater.

From 2019 they equipped Jubilee Nursery & Primary in Kyebando and Shalom Primary in Kyotera with infrastructure, including:

- New student classrooms

- A main meeting hall

- A school kitchen

- Security gates and storage facilities

- A head teacher’s home and teacher accommodation

- New toilet blocks and water tanks

- Desks, books and essential learning materials

Today, both schools operate independently - strengthened by a hands up, not just a handout.

I GOT SHOES are now partnering with 2 additional schools: Grace & Favour Primary in Lutete and Mt Zion Junior School in Kiwungu. Through classroom building grants and staff support, they are helping lay foundations that will impact generations.

Our students are gaining academic and vocational skills, whilst learning spiritual disciplines that remind each child that they are loved, valued and seen.
