Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
From Sunday 20th September to Thursday 24th September, I am hiking the full 100-mile route of the South Downs Way—starting in Winchester and finishing on the coast in Eastbourne. Averaging 20 miles a day for 5 days straight, I am doing this challenge to raise funds for Arthritis UK.
In 2024, I was diagnosed with Axial Spondyloarthritis (also known as Ankylosing Spondylitis). It is an autoimmune form of inflammatory arthritis that mainly affects the spine and pelvic joints. This causes severe stiffness and pain through the back, rib cage, and neck. Beyond joint pain, the condition brings daily challenges like tightness around the chest (making breathing difficult), chronic fatigue, bowel inflammation, eye inflammation (uveitis), and depression & anxiety from managing a lifelong condition.
Over 10 million people in the UK live with a form of arthritis, impacting their ability to work, study, care for family, move free from pain, and live independently. Yet arthritis is often misunderstood, and far too little attention is given to hidden, inflammatory conditions.
That’s why Arthritis UK funds life-changing research, supports those affected, and campaigns for systemic change. They won’t rest until everyone living with arthritis has access to the treatments, care, and support they need—with real hope for a cure in the future.
Every single donation, no matter the size, makes a genuine difference and helps keep my legs moving over those 100 miles! Thank you so much for your support.
