Erica's fundraiser for Sarcoma UK

Walking 300km for Sarcoma UK · 30 November 2024
Thank you for visiting my page.
I’m Erica.
Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges at us and I am no exception. For me, it came in February 2024 in the form of Sarcoma.
A life altering diagnosis like Sarcoma has been devastating not only for me but also for my friends and family. We were no exception.
Whilst undergoing vast amounts of tests and examinations I became increasingly unwell over a period of 18 months necessitating major abdominal surgery. This was no exception.
My Sarcoma diagnosis came very late in my health journey. Again, this was no exception.
Sarcoma does not discriminate. I am not exceptional. I was just next.
It is through the exceptional kindness of my family and friends that I have been able to navigate this incredibly difficult year.
I would like to pay that kindness forward and so I am raising money for the brilliant team working tirelessly at Sarcoma UK because they are truly exceptional. Few people understand Sarcoma but they do. They really do. They work to support research into early diagnosis of Sarcoma which is often misdiagnosed or missed entirely and provide an incredible advice line for those of us trying to understand what it means to live with Sarcoma. They have helped me immeasurably.
I will be walking/running (mostly walking) 300km throughout the South Downs during November. I will be doing it on my own so if you would like to ‘carry the boats’ with me at any point on my walk, you’d be most welcome.
Sarcoma may be rare but it is not exceptional.
This year may have been an extremely difficult year but it has also been extraordinarily humbling. It has been filled with kindness and grace for which I will be eternally grateful. I am very lucky.
2024 has been exceptional. Kintsugi.
Please help in any small way you can. Thank you for your support 💗
Always,
