Story
Sport is a big part of my life. I love being active, training, and taking part in events. Running the London Marathon would be an amazing achievement and a celebration of everything I enjoy about sport. I’ve built up strong running experience. I regularly take part in 5k Parkruns at Hamsterley, Darlington and Barnard Castle, and I’ve completed the Great North Run five times and the Manchester Marathon twice. Running London feels like the next big challenge.
I train with a supportive athletics community. Being part of Teesdale Athletics on Tuesdays and Thursdays keeps me motivated. My coaches are a great help. Christine also supports me through Special Olympics GB swimming training and takes us to events in places like Blackpool, Liverpool and Leeds. Her encouragement inspires me to aim for the London Marathon.
I’m determined and focused. When I train, I concentrate on reaching the finish and never giving up. That determination is a big reason I want to take on such a huge event.
I’m excited about the atmosphere of London. I want to experience running past the famous sights and hearing the huge crowds cheering. That energy helps me keep going, and the London Marathon is known for having the best atmosphere in the world.
Special Olympics has opened doors for me. Through Special Olympics I’ve made many friends, and the support from the team has helped make running the London Marathon a real possibility for me.
