I have entered the Marlow Santa Fun Run organised by the Rotary Club of Marlow and raising money for their chosen two lead charities (One Can Trust and Marlow United Churches).

One Can Trust provides emergency food parcels to people in crisis in the community, serving High Wycombe, Marlow, and across South Bucks.

Marlow United Churches main charitable objective is “the prevention or relief of poverty’ and for many years this has taken the form of the distribution of food vouchers at the end of the Summer and Christmas term, to families who are needing extra financial support.

Times are hard for many people at the moment and sadly these charities (and all charities/foodbanks) are being hit hard by a reduction in financial support and food items donations. Yet, the demand for the vital lifeline these organisations offer, increases.

Recently, I started to volunteer at my local foodbank, first with the sorting of food donations and then in their office helping with admin tasks. Both activities have shown me how important every pound is and how needed every donated item is.
