We provide a nebuliser and respiratory equipment donation and support service to children and adults with Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and a wide range of other respiratory related illnesses, as well as those with complex medical and palliative care needs.

Story

After being lucky enough to get a place in the London Marathon I have decided to use the opportunity to raise as much as I can for the charity Asthma Relief.

This charity means alot to myself and my family as they provide nebulisers to both children and adults with asthma and other respiratory related conditions. They have recently donated nebulisers to Northampton General Hospital which is where myself and my daughter have both been hospitalised and needed the help of a nebuliser. My daughter has recently had an asthma diagnosis ( she is only 6) after numerous chest infections and hospital stays during which she has needed constant oxygen and nebulisers. She was first admitted at just 4 years old with low oxygen levels where she needed 4 hourly nebulisers to help support her lungs. Her next stay was at 5 years old with needing the same treatment.

All funds raised will be used towards their Rapid Response Service, they do not have social media or spend any funds on literature. This company is not government funded in any way and solely rely on donations.

Here is a little about asthma relief and what they do....

Back in 1997, our wonderful founder, Dave Penman was busy running an engineering company when he suffered a heart attack. Dave was admitted to hospital for surgery and advised that he should stop working.

During his time in hospital he noticed that there was a shortage of nebuliser compressors on the ward as the Patients suffering from breathing difficulties were sharing one machine. A nebuliser compressor is an inhalation device which vaporises medication into a fine mist which can be inhaled.

Years earlier Dave witnessed his older brother struggling to breathe and eventually lose his life at the age of 28 following an asthma attack. This had a profound effect on Dave and it was from his hospital bed that he decided to set up the Asthma Relief Charity.

We provide a respiratory equipment donation and support service to both children and adults with Asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Cystic Fibrosis, Disabilities, Life Limiting Illness, Palliative Care needs, and a wide range of other respiratory related conditions.

Our ‘Rapid Response Service’ – enables us to respond quickly and efficiently to the most urgent requests for nebulisers. For example: requests from Hospices for palliative care patients, requests from Hospitals, Children’s Respiratory Physiotherapists and Community nurses to prevent hospital admissions and to enable patients to be discharged from hospital with all the equipment they need.

Our ‘Pro-active Approach’ - we have built very good and ongoing relationship with many Healthcare Professionals. Over the years we have collected a great deal of feedback therefore, we have come to know which medical establishments need our help the most.

In the past year we have donated over 1500 nebulisers and other essential asthma related training and diagnostic devices.

We are a small but dedicated team who are committed to providing a high-quality service to those who live with asthma and other respiratory related illness.

We would like to reach out to anyone whose life is restricted by a breathing condition, by offering our service to support them to lead a normal life, as much as possible …whether it is a nebuliser to enable a child with complex medical needs, to be able to go on family or school outings, an older patient who wants to get out of the house and engage more, a terminally ill patient to be at home to spend precious time with loved ones. A nebuliser can be pivotal in enabling these outcomes.
