Story
I am walking 22 miles on Monday 5th May as part of the Bridgnorth Walk to raise money to renovate the stage at the Regal in Tenbury Wells.
This stage holds a special place in my heart, as I sang my first ever opera role (Edith in Pirates of Penzance) here when I was 17! This experience kick started my dream to become an opera singer and 13 years later I was singing in the chorus as a young artist at Glyndebourne Festival Opera!
The stage is in desperate need of renovation so that the theatre can continue to give performance opportunities to members of the local community and stage full professional productions and concerts.
About the Regal and this cause:
The Regal in Tenbury Wells has been entertaining the community of Tenbury and surrounding areas since its opening in 1937.
The grade 2 listed art deco cinema now operates as a multi-arts venue bringing the very best film, arts broadcasts, live music, theatre and comedy to Tenbury Wells as well as community led performance projects through it's Regal Community Theatre company, it's theatre school 'Regal School of Creative Arts' and it's Community Choir.
Operated by the Regal Tenbury Trust Ltd, a registered charity: the Regal is in desperate need of an updated stage!
We are looking to raise funds to renovate our stage so that children can dance barefoot, wheelchairs don’t role to the side (!), so we can add an aerial bar for added wow factor, a new back drop as well as improved access onto the stage.
