Story
Hi everyone! On Saturday 6 June between 11.00 and 13.00 I will hold a plant sale at 27 Bessemer Fields, Fairfield Park in order to raise money for the amazing charity that is the MS Trust. They do such great work in informing about Multiple Sclerosis and supporting people, like me, living with the illness, and their families.
On the 22 May 2019 I was diagnosed with MS after having had strange sensations in my fingers, hands and over my belly since late summer 2018. It felt odd to touch and get touched and I struggled a lot with using touch screens etc. During the winter it got gradually worse until I was almost completely numb in my fingers. Around this time I also started to feel a strange buzzing sensation in my legs which in February 2019 intensified until it felt as if my legs where actually constantly vibrating. Which they obviously weren't, it was just my nerves tricking me. As I had suffered from an episode of Optic Neuritis already back in 2006 but never had any other MS symptoms back then, this all added up enough for me to get an MRI scan and I eventually got diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS. MS is a very personal illness and everyone’s symptoms are very different to another person’s. I have been very lucky that since starting on my medication I haven’t had many relapses or any new symptoms. On the whole I am feeling well and I just get on with living and enjoying life as much as I can.
Luckily two of my best friends were already working at the MS Trust so I knew exactly where I could turn to for support. This is why every year around the time of my diagnosis I'd like to raise money through one of my hobbies, gardening and growing plants, in aid of the MS Trust. This year I have been extra busy in my new potting shed and hope as many people as possible can come and buy some lovely plants, enter my raffle and help me raise as much money as possible!
