Story

On 19th April, I’ll be running the Newport 10K in support of The Brain Tumour Charity- a Charity that has become incredibly important to me over the past year.

On 21st March 2025, just one week before my 17th birthday, my world changed overnight. I was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where I underwent three major, life-saving operations to remove a brain tumour. Soon after, I began six weeks of proton beam therapy at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Just a week prior, my kind and warm-hearted godmother, Michelle passed away due to a brain tumour. So I will be running this in memory of her. ❤️

After everything my body had been through, I had to relearn how to walk unaided. I had to relearn how to complete simple, everyday tasks. Things that once felt automatic suddenly became huge milestones.

There were so many hard days — but they revealed a strength I didn’t know I had.

In the middle of treatment, I chose hope. I chose a goal, which was to run the 10k race.

Thanks to the parkrun community, I’ve stayed motivated and continued to stay active continuing with my 5k- whether that’s walking, jogging or volunteering.

I’m still living with a brain tumour and facing the side effects of treatment, but on 19th April I’ll be standing on that start line to prove to myself that nothing can stop me.

I would be extremely grateful if you’re able to support me. Diolch
