Story
Hey, I'm Erin and I've signed up to do an 11-day trek to Everest Base Camp in September 2025 with Choose a Challenge!
After deciding to take a year out of my veterinary medicine course for mental health reasons, I wanted to find a project to work towards while I have lots of time on my hands. This trek is the perfect opportunity to take on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge and raise money for a great cause at the same time. It's in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation, a fantastic charity working towards researching this disease as well as raising awareness in the general public.
Students are the 2nd most at-risk group for getting meningitis after babies and toddlers, which is why the University of Nottingham group has chosen to support the MRF with this trek. Here's a message from the charity:
We are at the heart of the initiative that is working with the World Health Organisation and leading experts on the disease to tackle meningitis globally. Our intrepid volunteers are taking on this incredible challenge and raising money to help us defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030.
I'm so excited to take on this incredible physical and mental challenge next year, and any donations you can give to help make this happen will be really appreciated!
