Story
On the 24th of August 2024 our lives changed forever. At the age of 21 I was diagnosed with cancer and we had no idea what the future held. After my diagnosis, I was moved from Monklands Hospital to the Glasgow Beatson where I received 6 cycles of Chemotherapy followed by 18 treatments of Radiotherapy. Over the 8 months that I received treatment at the Beatson, there was countless times that I would be readmitted to hospital due to infections. Between readmissions, check up appointments and scans I spent ALOT of time in the beatson. It quickly became like a second home to me and this was only made better by the amazing staff and facilities. Everyone in the beatson do their best to make you and your family as happy and as comfortable as possible, which makes the world of a difference when you are going through such a scary time. The work they do is just completely invaluable.
I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to do this year on the first anniversary of my diagnosis and after seeing the Beatson’s ‘Off the Beatson Track’ 10k walk, I thought there couldn’t be a more perfect way to spend that day than fundraising for the place that saved my life ! On the 24th of August I’ll be walking alongside my family and friends. We’re asking you guys to help support us by donating or by coming along and joining us ! Tickets can be purchased on the Beatson’s website and I hope to see you there !!🥰
Cancer affects so much more than just the individual diagnosed and I’m sure that you can all imagine how difficult the last year has been for the people around me. I want to take a moment to thank you all for being with me no matter what and for always giving me your support. The love you gave me kept me strong and I am so proud that we are now turning our efforts to help support other patients and families living with Cancer 💛
