Story
On Sunday 21st April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon to help raise money for Against Breast Cancer.
This is a cause that is very close to my heart, as I have had friends and family affected by this terrible disease. I feel very honoured and privileged to run for such an incredible charity and cannot wait to get started.
In 2012 a good friend of mine Victoria was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She underwent a full mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Victoria coped well with the treatment and moved forward with life, being discharged by the hospital and given the all clear in 2017.
Unfortunately after running the London Marathon in 2019 for Against Breast Cancer, Victoria began to get pain in her pelvis, and her health quickly deteriorated to the point that she could barely walk. In August 2020 she was diagnosed with secondary spread breast cancer throughout her body in her bones. She is coping well with immunotherapy treatment but over time the cancer can become resistant to the treatment. We need to find a cure!
Today, Against Breast Cancer funds pioneering research into new treatments, tools for earlier diagnosis and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence and secondary spread. Working with expert scientists they want to increase the survival rates of all breast cancer patients and ultimately, discover a vaccine against breast cancer.
Thanks you so much for your amazing support and donations.
