Story
On the 28th December 2023, I lost my beautiful Baba Ji, Gurdial Singh Bal, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer... I have never known loss in my life, but nothing could've prepared me for grief.
Most people in the world are lucky to even experience the love from two grandads, I am so blessed I received it from three. By name he may have been my Great-Uncle but by bond he was my Granddad and in my heart will always hold that place.
My Baba ji was a happy man, he had the most contagious laughter, full of life and he touched so many people in different ways, watching how the diagnosis impacted him was one of the hardest and most helpless things, it’s no secret that cancer sucks.
Pancreatic Cancer Action is the only UK charity dedicated to improving survival rates through early diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer and the 10th most common cancer in the UK. In the UK, 93% of all patients die within 5 years of diagnosis, my Baba ji was diagnosed and lost his battle just 5 months later.
Your support means we can continue to raise awareness of the symptoms to ensure early diagnosis and enable life-saving treatment.
24th August I will be partaking in a skydive, jumping from 10,000ft any donation is hugely appreciated. Also... the morning after I will be taking part in a half marathon, just to push myself to my total limits.
My Baba ji will be with me on the day, and I know he will be laughing at what a silly thing I am doing, but equally cheering me on.
I hope one day there is a time where we can beat this cruel disease so others don't have to face a loss like me and my family did.
This one is for you Baba ji 🩵🩵
