Story

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.

The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

The Little Princess Trust relies solely on the generosity of its wonderful supporters who help the charity give Hair and Hope to so many children and young people with cancer each year.

My darling little girl, who is just 8 years old, has decided she wants to cut off her long ponytail to help a child who has lost their hair. She told me, “My hair just keeps growing, so I want to give it to someone who needs it more.” She also said that once it grows back, she’d love to do it all over again.

She truly is one amazing little girl.

When I asked her how much she wanted to raise, she said, “Mum, how much does it cost to make a wig?” We looked it up together and found out it costs around £700. I explained that was a lot of money, but without hesitation she replied that she would sponsor herself with her pocket money and asked if she could get her school involved to help raise the rest.

Since then, we’ve spoken to her school, and they are fully behind her. She’ll be having her ponytail cut off in front of everyone at the school summer fete on Friday 10 July. It’s coming around very quickly, but she is so determined. She’s been asking everyone she meets to come along, watch, and, if they can, make a donation.

To say I’m proud of her doesn’t even come close. I run a domestic cleaning business, and some of my lovely clients have experienced hair loss through cancer treatment. She knows their stories, and seeing what they’ve been through has made her even more determined to help others.

If you’re able to, please dig deep and help this caring, compassionate little girl reach her goal. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and help provide a wig for someone who truly needs one.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support
