CPR-a-Thon - Emergency Services Show 17th - 18th September for Resuscitation Council UK

West Midlands Ambulance Service is raising money for Resuscitation Council UK

CPR-a-Thon - Emergency Services Show 17th - 18th September

Resuscitation Council UK is working towards a day when every person in society has the skills they need to save a life. Currently, not everyone has an equal chance of surviving the ultimate medical emergency. Simple lifesaving skills and confidence aren’t yet as widespread as they should be. If you live in some of the poorest parts of the UK, or come from a particular ethnic minority background, you may be less likely to survive a cardiac arrest. This is not acceptable. Together as a community we are demanding urgent action from the UK’s leaders to change this and make sure everyone has an equal chance of survival.

Story

On the 17th and 18th September, at the Emergency Services Show, the team at West Midlands Ambulance Service and our Community First Responder partners will be putting our hearts into action, quite literally.

At our stand, staff and Community First Responders will be performing continuous CPR throughout the opening hours of the show in a challenge we’re calling the CPR-a-thon. Alongside the endurance challenge, we’ll also be taking visitors on a journey through the history of CPR from its earliest attempts in the Middle Ages, through the evidence that has shaped every major change, to the life-saving practice we rely on today.

The Mental Health team will also be demonstrating how the latest VR technology can be utilised to support learning and development in a safe simulated environment, and hosting their own podcast! Our Recruitment team will be on hand to discuss opportunities in our organisation including the Associate Ambulance Practitioner to Paramedic course at our state of the art Academy.

We’re raising funds for Resuscitation Council UK, whose work underpins the guidelines, training, and research that make modern resuscitation possible. Their mission is to ensure more people survive cardiac arrest, and every donation helps support this vital cause.

Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of surviving a cardiac arrest by around 10%. By raising awareness and funds, we want to show the importance of CPR knowledge, community readiness, and continued research.

This isn’t just about keeping chest compressions going hour after hour, it’s about showcasing how far we’ve come, and how, together, we can keep pushing survival rates higher.

Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly to Resuscitation Council UK. With your support, you’ll be helping to fund education, training, and research that give more families the chance of seeing their loved ones survive a cardiac arrest.

We’ll do the hard work of keeping the compressions going, all you need to do is click “donate” and be part of this lifesaving effort.

Together, Let’s Keep Hearts Beating
