My friend, Morag Jeffrey, and I are taking part in Trek Angkor Wat in Cambodia at the end of October 2025 to raise vital funds for the amazing charity Marie Curie. I have taken part in quite a few of these treks and Morag has now caught the bug and this is her 2nd. Charities rely on overseas treks and UK challenges for a large part of their income, and for the participants, they raise awareness of the charity and its work, have fun and meet lots of new friends along the way.

We have both had first hand experience of the wonderful work that Marie Curie does in various guises over the years. My family benefitted from our wonderful Marie Curie nurse, Pauline, for a couple of nights as my mum reached the end of her life. It is true what they say, a Marie Curie nurse truly is a shining light in your darkest hour. I vowed then to support the charity in any way I could. As well as the fundraising, I am honoured to carry out the role of Marie Curie Ambassador, which involves speaking at various events and to various organisations about the work that they do.

Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
