Isla’s Story
In the summer of 2024, Isla was diagnosed with Primary Bone Lymphoma. Isla was just 11 years old and about to start secondary school. Instead, she faced a tough journey of multi rounds of chemotherapy, hospital stays, infections and more tests than she could count.
Isla faced her journey with resilience, grace and a smile. Isla is in remission and just before Christmas rang the bell to mark the end of her treatment.
During Isla’s stays at Southampton Hospital, Isla, her parents Nick and Kara, and sister, Freya were supported by the incredible charity Abby's Heroes. Abby’s Heroes provided them with a friendly face when times were tough and helped them navigate a difficult and frightening journey.
Abby’s Heroes offer vital support to children, teenagers, young adults, and their families across the South Coast of England. They provide welfare packs, care and comfort bags, financial grants, and operate a family room with emergency provisions, counselling sessions, and play therapy for patients and their families. Additionally, they run an active days out programme for the whole family as well as special days for grandparents and siblings. Their dedication and support are hugely important and invaluable to families, and the impact of their amazing work immeasurable.
Chrissy, Esther and Kara are raising money for Abby’s Heroes by undertaking the New Forest Central Hiking Trail, 17km, on 15th November 2025. Their target is to raise £4500 to continue supporting families in need. Your donation will make a huge difference to families like Isla’s by offering emotional, financial, and practical support.
