Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you will know we lost our beautiful Thomas in July 2006, aged just 22 years old, in a tragic accident which occurred when he was enjoying a day out with his friends in Llangollen. It is hard to believe that it is nearly 18 years since Thomas’ family and friends lost him out of their day to day lives forcing us to live with only cherished memories. Thankfully, Thomas lived life to the maximum and therefore we all have an abundance of wonderful memories of being around him.

Thomas was born on 24 June 1984 and therefore this year marks his 40th birthday and as a family we wanted to mark the occasion and have decided to walk up Snowdon on 22nd June 2024. We invite anyone who would like to join us on the walk, giving us all the chance to reminisce on time spent with Thomas, or just join us for support.

In the last 18 years, despite our grief, life goes on for us and everyone else that loved Thomas. In that time my sons Louie and Archie have entered the world, now 8 and 4 years old, and we have no doubt that Thomas will be watching over them with pride, he would have been a great uncle. They talk about him in such a fond way despite never having had the opportunity to meet him. Louie once commenting that he wanted to do well during a sports fixture as it was Thomas’ birthday and he wanted to score for him.

Louie and Archie are both keen rugby players representing Mold Rugby Club. The club offers children the opportunity to develop, grow and increase their confidence whilst feeling safe and supported. It relies on an army of volunteers to continue and struggles to cover the day-to-day running costs. The club keeps the monthly fee paid my members to an absolute minimum to try to ensure it is accessible for all. This year the club has been raising money for Alder Hey Childrens hospital as part of their community fundraiser. The rugby club is itself a charity and relies on fundraising efforts to enable it to continue, therefore, any money raised from the walk will be split between the club and Alder Hey.

So, firstly we welcome your company on our walk up Snowdon (Pyg Path) on 22nd June 2024 meeting at the walks start point i.e. Pen-y-Pass (LL55 4NU) at 06.30 AM and secondly, the walking group will be heading to the Parrot Pub in Drury following the walk for some buffet food and a few drinks, if you knew Thomas and have some memories to share please feel free to join us.

On top of that if you can spare a few pounds to help towards our fundraiser in Thomas’ name we would be very grateful – link below.

Thank you all,

Love Esther and Carole x
