One in four women will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lifetime, and on average, two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. These figures highlight just how urgent and widespread this issue remains.

This cause is extremely important to me because I have seen how deeply domestic abuse can affect women and, especially, children. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home, yet for many, that sadly isn’t the reality.

Refuge provides vital support to those experiencing domestic abuse, offering safety, guidance, and practical help at the moments it is needed most. As the largest single provider of specialist services for survivors of domestic, sexual, and gender-based abuse, Refuge also runs the free, 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline, which often serves as the first step towards safety.
