Congleton Rugby Club’s Women’s Rugby Team are doing a sponsored walk.
The aim is to raise money for the Women’s team, Ruby’s Fund and Bridging the Gap.
Roughly 15 members of the team will be walking from Marple to Congleton Rugby Club on Saturday 14th November covering a hefty 22 miles.
50% of the money raised will be put towards the women’s rugby team which will go a long way to securing valuable facilities, kit and resources for the entire team.
25% will be going to Ruby’s Fund
“Ruby’s is an award winning charity supporting children and young people aged 0-18 years old with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families and carers in Cheshire East. We provide high-quality facilities onsite at our centre in Congleton and outreach sessions at partner venues and onboard our mobile sensory bus. We offer person-centred support, by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, who are equipped with a wide range of knowledge, expertise and lived experience. We offer coordinated support and action to improve the quality of life and wellbeing to individuals and groups in Cheshire East with some of the most vulnerable and complex needs.”
25% will be donated to Bridging the Gap
“At BTG, we exist to bridge the gap for those struggling to access mental health support. We know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re not okay, and even harder when the help you need feels out of reach.
Our mission is to make support easier to find and simpler to access, so no one has to face a mental health challenge alone or wait until things reach crisis point.
We believe in a kind, whole-person approach — combining movement and talking therapy to support both body and mind. This blended model has helped hundreds of people take their first steps toward feeling better.
Everyone deserves support when they need it most, and we’re here to make sure they get it.”
Ruby’s Fund and Bridging the Gap have been selected because they are both based just a stone’s throw from our rugby club and have strong links to our local community. Members of our team have also personally benefited from the support they provide, making these charities particularly meaningful choices for us.
