Story
On 13th September, just two days after my 28th birthday, I’ll be taking on the challenge of Ironman Wales in Tenby. This incredible event will push me to my limits with a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle, and a 42.2km run to finish. It will be a true test of endurance, resilience, and determination.
I am totally signed up for the event, and 100% of all funds raised will be split (30/70) between two charities that mean a great deal to me.
Llantrisant Young Farmers (30%)
One of my chosen charities is Llantrisant Young Farmers, where I am currently proud to serve as Chairman. The club is part of Glamorgan County and is run entirely by its members, providing young people with opportunities to develop skills, build confidence, and form lifelong friendships in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Young Farmers has given me so much over the past five years; from personal growth and confidence, to unforgettable experiences and friendships. Having also served as Treasurer, I understand first hand how challenging it can be for a self run and self funded club to cover costs. I’ve seen the positive impact this club has on its members, which is why I feel so strongly about giving back to a charity that has given me so much.
British Heart Foundation (70%)
My second chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation, a cause that is extremely close to mine and my family's hearts. After losing my father at a young age, the work the BHF does has always been incredibly meaningful to me. It was my chosen charity whilst raising with my marathon and it is also now my chosen Chairman’s Charity within Llantrisant Young Farmers, and throughout the year our club will continue raising additional funds for this vital cause.
The British Heart Foundation has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK. However, heartbreakingly, hundreds of people still lose their lives to these conditions every day. Thanks to supporters like you, the BHF can continue funding life-saving research — £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early-career scientist, and every donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me through this challenge. Every donation means more than you know to myself and to the charities involved.
