As I started dialysis on May 16th, I decided to combine my birthdayfundraiser with my Best Foot Forward challenge, walking 70,951 steps in the month of June, raising much needed funds for the National Kidney Federation. This amazing charity is run for kidney patients BY kidney patients so they do understand how we feel.

I was rather anxious about dialysis so I emailed Pete at the charity, who speedily got Stephen (who went through dialysis previously) to contact me. After a friendly and very informative chat, I felt calmer and knew what to expect. After 2 weeks and 5 sessions I feel good although, there are some challenges when it comes to needling☺️

I look forward to completing my challenge and i hope you will help me reacing my goal.

The NKF offers a National Freephone Helpline and Peer Support Service 0800 169 09 36 offering information leaflets, help and advice - with trained staff answering around 200 calls a week.

The charity supports 3.25 million people with Chronic Kidney Disease (stages 3 to 5) in the UK.
