Story
The Samaritans is a UK-based charity dedicated to providing emotional support to people in distress, particularly those experiencing suicidal thoughts.
Founded in 1953, the organisation operates a 24-hour helpline where individuals can call, email, or text for support. Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. Samartians offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need. The organisation also provides support to individuals who have been bereaved by suicide, as well as resources for schools and workplaces to promote mental health and well-being. I have seen the devastating impact of suicide and the importance of emotional support. The Samaritans' work is vital in helping those in need, and I am proud to support their mission.
