Story
In November 2016, my older sister Lissy was rushed to hospital after an opticians appointment that found haemorrhaging behind her eye. She was rushed from Worthing A&E to Southampton hospital’s PICU after discovering her blood pressure was 270/180, life threateningly high for anyone, let alone a child. After weeks in the PICU, she was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure at the age of 12. My sister is the strongest person I know, and has recently been told she is end stage and is now on the transplant list after over 6 incredible years of fighting this horrible disease! In 2020 I was diagnosed with arthritis in all of my joints, which has been not only hard for me physically but also mentally as I was informed that there was no way I could ever give my sister my kidney because I am immunosuppressed. To challenge myself and do the most I can for my beautiful sister and others with kidney disease, I plan to (attempt) to take a 39 mile walking route through the South Downs Way from Poynings to the Seven Sisters in Eastbourne in the summer. Together we can stop the hurt this disease causes. Any and all support is appreciated! Thank you.
