Eva-Lily's fundraiser for Nottingham Trent University

Robin Hood Half Marathon 2025 · 28 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I am taking part in The 2025 Robin Hood Half Marathon on behalf of The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre (JvGCRC).
As a NTU student who’s been surrounded by friends and (immediate) family who’s experienced cancer, I felt compelled to help contribute and have an impact where I can and not be a bystander. My dad had stage 3 skin cancer which later caused brain lesions but eventually recovered thanks to NHS workers and my strong mum.
My mum equally deserves recognition for her determination and never giving up attitude when managing her own businesses, raising four children (+2 dogs and 1 rabbit), being one of the 555 which took The Post Office to court (Post Office Horizon Scandal) all while taking care of my dad by changing dressings and being a massive support system, as my dad would not be in a healthy condition today if it wasn’t for my mums behind the scene efforts and subsequent doctors/nurses.
Therefore, I’d love to raise money for a good and relatable cause but while maintaining awareness of the emotional and physical impact that people do not see behind closed doors.
Based at Nottingham Trent University, JvGCRC specialise in research into blood cancers as well as colorectal, pancreatic and brain tumours.
Your kind donations help to find ways to:
- Diagnose cancer better
- Predict how it will respond to treatment
- Develop ways of boosting the immune system to fight it
The presence of cancer in our lives might remain inevitable — but the scale and devastation of its impact need not be. Your donations help to continue this life-changing work.
Thank you for your support.
