Story
I'm running the Oxford Half to raise money for Beth's Wishes Foundation, a charity set up in 2020 after the loss of life-long friend of mine, Beth Jones. Beth suffered from Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, and her case wasn't responding to regular treatment. After making the brave decision to undergo stem cell therapy - an incredibly aggressive treatment which involves chemotherapy - to treat her arthritis and be pain-free, she sadly died from post-surgery complications.
The Foundation’s aim is to support young people under 26 undergoing stem cell or similar procedures for the treatment of auto-immune diseases.
Beth was many wonderful things, and kind was one of them - which is clear, as one of her final wishes was to set up this charity in her name, to help other young adults and children have the support she sadly lacked during her treatment.
