Eva's fundraiser for GO MAD

Volunteering in Musoma Tanzania · 29 June 2024
My name is Eva McCann and I am a Year 13 pupil at Sullivan Upper School. This summer I am embarking on a trip to Tanzania with the charity organisation Go Make A Difference.
Go MAD is a small independent charity, initially founded by Northern Ireland man Graham McClure and his wife Irene. In 2008 they built a church in Tanzania and have continued ever since, dedicating their lives to those in some of the poorest regions in East Africa, through their work with local communities and volunteering projects.
I am extremely fortunate to be joining the GoMAD team as a volunteer this summer and will be travelling to the district of Musoma, where I will have the opportunity to support and work alongside local people on a number of exciting projects, including:
* Building water tanks to provide clean, safe drinking water.
* Improving sanitation through the building of latrines to prevent spread of diseases like diarrhoea.
* Constructing goat sheds for farmers; supporting them to earn an income and provide milk for their families.
* Teaching menstrual health to young girls just like myself, but who often have to miss out on their education as period products and facilities are lacking.
* Volunteering at the local orphanage, providing educational and fun activities.
* Providing medical treatment to the local leprosy community.
Please, if you can, help me to change the lives of others and to make a difference…
Crucially 100% of fundraising donations will go directly towards the projects that I will be working on this summer:
£5 buys the medicine to treat a child with malaria
£64 to run a Menstrual Health Programme for 50 girls
£80 buys a goat
£500 builds a goat shed
£750 builds a family a water tank
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and for donating.
Asante,
Eva x
