Eva-Rae Brand is raising money for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal

Autumn Wolf Junior 3km · 13 September 2026

The Grand Appeal is the Bristol Children's Hospital Charity, transforming the lives of sick children from Bristol, the South West and beyond. Help save the lives of sick children, provide pioneering medical equipment and keep families together by donating or fundraising for The Grand Appeal.

Story

Eva-Rae is taking on her first 3km obstacle race to raise money for The Grand Appeal after seeing first-hand the incredible care and support they provide to families like ours.

Junior Wolf is a thrilling 3K off-road adventure course packed with obstacles, mud and excitement, designed especially for 7–17 year olds.

Eva will have to tackle rope climbs, water crossings, monkey bars and plenty of mud!

When Eva’s little sister Lily was just 4 weeks old, she became critically unwell. What started as whooping cough, which can be life-threatening in babies, quickly became much more serious. She developed pneumonia, her lung collapsed, and after four days in Hereford Children’s Department she was transferred to the PICU at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Lily spent 8 days sedated on life support. During this time she also developed NEC (Necrotising Enterocolitis), a very serious condition that affects the bowel. NEC causes inflammation and damage to the intestines and can become life-threatening, especially in tiny babies. Because her bowel needed complete rest to heal, Lily was unable to have milk for two weeks and instead received specialist nutrition through central and femoral lines.

Once her breathing tubes were removed, Lily was transferred to the surgical ward, where she slowly became strong enough to finally come home.

During the most frightening time of our lives, The Grand Appeal provided accommodation for me and Lily’s dad close to the hospital. It meant we had somewhere to sleep, shower, eat and stay nearby while Lily fought to recover. It also meant Eva and her brother Loken were able to visit their baby sister.

Eva wanted to take on this challenge to help raise money so other families going through difficult times can receive the same support we did.

Thank you so much for supporting her.
