Story
This year, Gaza is marking its third Ramadan amid a genocide.
For this fundraiser, I am walking 82km over two months, which is the same distance as walking the full length of the Gaza Strip and back. I am raising money for the charity 'Hope and Play', who reach around 14,000 children and their families in Gaza every month, providing them with the essentials to survive and hope.
The charity provide art and craft workshops, skate schools, kite-making sessions, sports and games and more. These workshops create small miracles that allow the children in Gaza to experience moments of happiness amidst despair and unimaginable loss.
97% of schools in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed due to ongoing conflict, stripping children not only of their education but also of safe spaces to play and socialise without fear. Books, pens, pencils, and other materials essential for learning are incredibly scarce as most are lost under the rubble of destroyed homes. 'Hope and Play' teams have managed to source and distribute learning materials to help children attending their ‘tent’ schools. Having a pen and paper provides them with a tiny portion of normality where they can express themselves.
Gaza’s children often feel forgotten by the world. They have been trapped and targeted by violence and misplaced multiple times while experiencing terror and loss. Every time we speak up about Palestine or take a stand against injustice, we remind them that they are not alone.
We need your help. My goal is to raise over £500 for 'Hope and Play'. Even a small donation can make a huge difference in bringing hope back into their lives.
Thank you for your time!
