Rory and Eve’s fundraiser for Sarcoma UK

Hackney Half Marathon 2025 · 18 May 2025 ·
Rory and his girlfriend, Nayna, signed up to run the Hackney Half after a great day watching friends run last year.
Fast forward to September 2024, Nayna was diagnosed with sarcoma. It had grown into the bones and cartilage meaning the knee itself and part of the femur had to be removed and replaced with a prosthetic metal knee, this was done through a seven hour surgery with a nine day hospital stay and up to a year recovery. Additionally, the surgery will need to be redone periodically as the prosthetic will not last forever. Three weeks post op we received the relieving lab results that the tumour was successfully removed and scans done over the next ten years will check there is no further cancer.
Throughout this process we have, and will continue to, encounter extraordinary oncologists, surgeons, doctors, nurses, radiologists, radiographers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists who we owe everything to.
Nayna is only four months into recovery and, even when recovered, high impact exercise like running has not been encouraged. Evidently, running this half is not possible.
Eve is running in Nayna’s place! We are hoping to raise as much as possible for Sarcoma UK, a remarkable charity funding vital research, supporting those affected by sarcoma and campaigning for better treatments. We can attest to how imperative these facets are and are thrilled to be running for this cause.
Thank you for everyone’s support of our running journeys and for any donation you are able to make!
