Story
On September 7th, I'm running the Great North Run in support of UNICEF's Children of Gaza Crisis Appeal.
From UNICEF's website:
Across Gaza, children are being starved to death. Families are risking their lives to find food. The IPC and UN agencies have declared that “the worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out in Gaza”. Every child under the age of 5 is at risk of acute malnutrition — a condition that didn’t exist in Gaza just 20 months ago.
I've chosen this charity because while it remains extremely difficult to get aid into Gaza, UNICEF are one of the organisations on the ground currently supplying food, water, vaccines and malnutrition treatments, and ready to supply more as aid routes open up.
But there are 3.1 million people in Gaza and the West Bank, and current supplies aren't enough to reach them all. Every donation helps - just £10 is enough to pay for a week's worth of therapeutic food for a child.
Thank you so much for any donations.
