Eve's fundraiser for CEA Committed to Ended Abuse

Eve Summers is raising money for CEA Committed to Ended Abuse

One Race Every Month 2025

Committed to Ending Abuse (CEA) was established in 1976 as Falkirk and District Women’s Aid. In the last forty five years our organisation has grown from strength to strength responding to changing social, political and economic climates and adapting our services to reflect changing needs.  Domestic Abuse as (Gender based abuse) can be perpetrated by partners and ex partners and can include  Physical abuse (assault and physical attack including a range of behaviours)  Sexual abuse (acts which degrade and humiliate women and are perpetrated against their will including rape)  Mental and emotional abuse ( such as threats, verbal abuse, racial abuse, withholding money and other types of controlling behaviour such as isolation from family and friends) Our new name reflects our aims and our vision to become gender neutral and more inclusive for everyone, including men. As a reflection of our good practice, CEA has been awarded with Safe Lives Leading Lights status, which is the mark of quality for domestic abuse services. CEA has also fostered links with various organisations such as AMIS (Abused Men in Scotland) that addresses the gap in service provision for abused men in Scotland. Our vision incorporates The Three-Stage Trauma Recovery Model developed by Dr Judith Herman (Herman, J 1992), promoting recovery from traumatic experiences.

Story

This year I'll be taking on my biggest challenge yet, a race every month for the fantastic Charity Committed To Ending Abuse.

Here is a little bit about us and what we stand for;

At CEA, we provide life-changing support for individuals affected by domestic abuse. As an inclusive service committed to ending all forms of abuse, we provide support and advice to anyone, regardless of age, beliefs, ethnicity, faith, gender, sexual orientation, or race. Our mission is to ensure that every person experiencing abuse has access to safety, advocacy, and specialist intervention when they need it most.

From 1st April 2024 to 4th February 2025, we have received 664 referrals, a stark reminder of the growing demand for our service. Every referral represents an individual seeking safety, support, and hope for a future free from abuse. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to provide trauma-informed, person-centred interventions, guiding individuals through crisis, empowering them with knowledge and resources, and advocating for their protection and recovery.

The funds raised through these series of races will have a direct and lasting impact. They will help us reduce waiting times, provide essential resources, and continue delivering specialist support to those in need. With demand at an all-time high, every contribution enables us to strengthen our response and ensure that no one faces domestic abuse alone.

By supporting this fundraiser, you are standing with us in our mission to create safer futures for all. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those we support.
