Out of Many, One People: Events Industry Support for Hurricane Melissa Relief.
On October 28, Hurricane Melissa, one of the worst storms in Jamaica’s history, hit the island with winds of up to 185 mph, leaving communities without homes, power, food, and clean water.
We are asking the UK events industry to help us raise £25,000 as quickly as possible for the British Red Cross Hurricane Melissa Disaster Fund, so vital support can reach people in urgent need.
This appeal has been launched in solidarity with asembl.group member, David Beswick, Creative Director and Co-Founder of X Solutions, whose mum lives in Black River, the community described as “ground zero” of the storm. Many in our industry have close ties to Jamaica, and now is the time for us to stand with them.
Every donation counts. Please give what you can and help us make a real difference today.

Why This Matters to Our Industry:
The fundraiser for the British Red Cross has been launched to support communities devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Winds of up to 185 mph have caused one of the worst storms in Jamaica’s history, leaving towns and villages in urgent need of help.
David Beswick, Creative Director and Co-Founder of X3 Solutions, has been personally affected. His mum lives in Black River, described as “ground zero” of the hurricane. The port town, 93 miles west of Kingston, has suffered roofs removed from houses, landslides, and fatalities. Aid has struggled to reach the area, which currently lacks electricity, food, and clean water.
With over 1.1 million Caribbean people living and working in the UK and a thriving events industry in Jamaica, it is likely that many in our sector have been directly or indirectly affected. asembl.group is driving a collective fundraising effort to support relief teams and communities in Jamaica as quickly as possible.

David, Creative Director & Co-Founder, X3 Solutions:
“My mum’s home, Black River, is the bread basket of Jamaica, a place that has nourished the island for generations. After the hurricane, the people who always give so much now need our help. ‘Out of Many, One People’ means we show up for each other. Any support you can offer will make a real difference.”
Peter, Jackson, Group Managing Director, asembl.group:
“The images we’ve all seen of the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa across Jamaica are shocking and our hearts go out to the people enduring unimaginable hardship. This tragic event has affected some of our people directly, and that’s why we are bringing the power of our collective networks together to make a difference.
At asembl.group, we believe in the power of collective action and compassion. Through this fundraising appeal, we are calling on our partners, clients, and the wider community to join us in providing urgent relief and helping affected families rebuild their lives. Together, we can make a meaningful difference where it’s needed most.”
