Quiz night · 31 July 2026

Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC) was founded in 2004 by a mother whose two sons had been diagnosed with leukodystrophy. She recognised the severe lack of information and support available and wanted to make sure that no one had to face leukodystrophy alone.

Story

Leukodystrophies are rare genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system (ie the brain or spinal cord). They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children.

Leukodystrophies can be misdiagnosed due to early symptoms 'mimicking' other disorders (adhd, autism etc). So ultimately, diagnosed late. Alex TLC spreads awareness and knowledge of leukodystrophies which helps with both understanding and earlier diagnosis. They also provide support for families in which have loved one(s) with leukodystrophies.

My brother Stan had Childhood Cerebral Adrenoluekodystrophy. During the year of his diagnosis to his passing, Alex TLC provided endless amounts of support for both me and my mum, making sure we knew we weren't alone in this situation.

❗️In memory of Stan, I am hosting a quiz night on the 31st July 2026 - 6pm onwards. It will take place at: B4425, Cirencester GL7 5NR. (There will be a sign for 'bibury cricket club' on a telegraph pole - drive up the track and follow it.) Tickets will be £5 per person. Groups of however many you want. Food & drink will be available. Dogs are welcome. All money will go to Alex TLC❗️

Your donation will help Alex TLC continue to provide the best support possible to those affected alongside medical research.

Thank You, hope to see you there.
